Cultivating Informed Consent

Good afternoon, gentle reader.

Informed Consent is an ethical concept that you might be aware of in Law and Medicine. At its essence, Informed Consent occurs when you understand what you’re agreeing to - including the effects of that agreement.

In order for consent to be informed, one must have the data one needs in order to make that agreement. This is also true for you and your partner. Check out this short video of 8 questions you can ask while cultivating informed consent.

  1. What is our shared understanding?

  2. What are the risks?

  3. How am I feeling about this?

  4. How transparent do I need to be?

  5. What assumptions am I making?

  6. How secure am I in my NO?

  7. Am I lucid enough to make this decision?

  8. What if…..?

The next several miniblogs will consider each question on its own, so please stick around.
